No matter where you see a nativity scene, and no matter how many people or animals it contains, the Baby is always in the center. He is the centerpiece of Christmas; He is the centerpiece of Scriptures; and He is the centerpiece of human history. Today we see that although this Baby is not called by name in the story, He is defined in other ways. And those descriptions help draw us to worship The PRINCE.
Today we look at the eight people or groups that are named in the Christmas story. Some are obvious and well-known. Others are easy to miss, or we know very little about them. But from looking at these names, we see the different kinds of people, and vocations needed for God’s Perfect Plan to come together!
Today we look at the time period into which our Savior was born. It was a dark time in Israel’s history and there was little hope. Most of us would not have chosen this time to introduce our child to the earth, but the Heavenly Father’s perfect plan was designed this way. In the darkest room, the light shines brightest!
Today, on the first Sunday of Advent, we begin our Christmas series, which is the study of Luke 2. Today we will look at the geographical locations of this account, which will help us understand the story better, but will also give us an appreciation of the master plan of God. And, we will see the prophecies that help us to appreciate the Christmas story even more!
