You Asked For It

Probably the question that I get most often recently is, Are We Living in the Last Days?  Because of what is happening around the world, many people are wondering if this could be the time spoken about by Jesus and the prophets.  In this message, we will do a Bible study to look at the prophecies, and how they are being fulfilled.  And, we will look at a Christian’s responsibility towards the end of times.

Today we look at an age- old question of Christians — Can I lose my salvation? There are people who take very strong stances on each side of this argument, and the debate has divided many churches. In this study, we will see the two sides of the topic, and then learn how to handle the topic practically and (hopefully) reasonably. Most importantly, we will be reminded that no matter which side of the debate you take, we all come to the same practical application.

We answer the question about the history, mode and purpose of Christian Baptism.  Several people asked questions about baptism for this YOU ASKED FOR IT series, and I’ve tried to wrap the answers into one message.  Today’s study is particularly timely as we gather this afternoon to baptize of group of believers from our church body!

Our YOU ASKED FOR IT series continues, with a look at the DEMONS. We will learn about their origin and their evil intent, but more importantly, we will see the power of Jesus Christ over the spirit world. We will look at one of the most famous stories about demons, while learning lessons for our response to them today.

We continue our summer YOU ASKED FOR IT series by looking at the Work and Ministry of the Holy Spirit.  Although cults were developed through a poor understanding of the Person of Jesus Christ, many divisions within the Christian church have developed because of a poor understanding of the Holy Spirit.  We tend to under-emphasize or over-emphasize the ministry of the Holy Spirit, so today, our goal is to try to strike a good balance.

We begin our summer You Asked for It series, with topics that you chose last spring.  Today we start a three-part study of the spirit world by talking about the angels of God.  In this study, we will look at their creation, forms and ministry, and hopefully dispel many myths.
